Frequently Asked Questions ContinuedWhat should I wear to class?Stretchy non restrictive clothing ie. leotards and leggings or shorts and t-shirt. Please do not wear bulky trackpants to class as they can restrict your movements. Also please do not wear jewellery. Please note that yoga is a barefoot practice.. Is it better to eat before or after a class?Yoga must be practiced with an empty stomach, bowels and bladder. Students should wait 3-4 hours after a large meal before commencing yoga.. At least 2 hours after a light meal ( ie fruit or toast and cup of tea). Do I need to purchase any equipment?No, a student does not have to purchase any thing. Yoga Zone is a fully equipped yoga school. Mats , blankets, bricks and belts are all provided for use at the centre. Serious students often purchase their own equipment for home practice. All your personal practice props are available for purchase from the Yoga Zone SHOP How do I know which level of class is right for me?Generally we request that all new comers to yoga attend an 'Introducing yoga course. You will be asked to move your limbs and trunk in a different manner to which you are accustomed Twisting the spine, bending forwards or backwards and inverting the head and trunk are foreign movements to the beginning student of yoga. Change takes time. Change requires commitment and discipline. Yoga Zone courses run in 10 week blocks. Many students , opt to do 2 Introducing yoga courses (20 weeks) as a tremendous background for developing a firm and lasting foundation for their yoga practice. Level 1 begginers courses are for students that have done the preliminary course in yoga (intro). This course will develop stamina and strength., Level 1 courses can also be attended for those students that have had a break in their practice and wish to resume, or for students that are used to exercise and new to yoga but need to balance out their bodies ie strong but stiff. Level 2 classes require a background in yoga. Inversions and more rigorous
backbends are learnt. Pranayama (breathing) is practiced more at this
level. Please, no beginning students in these classes. I have done Hatha Yoga before which class should I attend?Level 1 begginers courses are suitable for students who have practiced another form of Hatha yoga in the past and would like to take their practice deeper under guidance. If I have an injury can I participate?Yes Yoga is theraputic. Sore backs,necks knees and
other injuries can be accommodated in a class. How many students are in a class, on average?Up to 24 students. Do classes have male and female students together?Yes classes are mixed. |
