About Shadow yoga

The universal energies HATHA -- SUN/ MOON are brought into balance within the body through various activities that still the mind. This balance is achieved by the disciplined practice of asana (posture), pranayama (breath control), mudra(hand gestures) and bunda (internal locks and seals).

The Shadow www.shadowyoga.com form is very dynamic. There is rythum in the movements, the postures are accessable, fluid and graceful, and offers a complete yoga programme for the complete beginner to the well seasoned practitoner.

There are 4 set sequences called Preludes

These preludes are learnt as a set form. For this reason we request that you attend one of our short courses in yoga and not take the study casually. These courses can be 5, 6, 8 or 10 week in duration. And are open to ALL levels of experience, and will run continually throughout the year.

For experienced practioners we offer an open class/full practice format(not course) for students who have done prelude courses and who are experienced in bundas.

Getting Started

Preliminary course – for those with little or no experience. This is an ideal way to start yoga. You can be of any age, background or fitness level. This course will establish some fimness in the postures and begin to work with breath control. This course sets the context for further yoga studies.

Allison Watt

About Iyengar Yoga

B.K.S.Iyengar developed this hatha yoga style, which stresses understanding the body and how it works. Students focus on symmetry and alignment, using props such as belts blocks, blankets and chairs to achieve postures. Each pose is held for a longer amount of time than most other yoga styles. Iyengar yoga focuses on precision, it helps improve strength, flexibility and balance, requiring the practioner to be in the present moment. www.bksiyengar.com .

Iyengar yoga focuses on precision ,improved strength, flexibility and balance. This requires the student to focus exclusively on the present moment, clearing the mind and bring a sense of peace and stillness.

About Sonal Agrawal and Childrens Yoga/Mummy and me classes

Sonal Agrawal has been practicing yoga for many years. She is privileged to have done most of her yoga training at Shivnanda Ashram , India . She has also done the teachers training course at Kaivalyadhama, the world renowned yoga school at Pune , India . She is due to complete the Radiant Child Yoga Program™

(Levels 1 and 2) in May 2006 and is committed to her own daily yoga practice.

The strong seeds of a healthy body and blissful mind were sowed by her father who is a medical practitioner for 30 years. She is now passing on the same legacy to her two year old daughter, Mahi.

Mahi started playing various yoga poses (with tree pose and cat pose being her favourites) with her mother when she was one. Today, the little girl amazes everyone with her flexible body and joyous nature.

Sonal, a mother and teacher, has made a lifelong commitment to yoga and the visible results in her daughter have further inspired her to share the fun and blessings of yoga with more and more children.

Currently she teaches yoga to babies, toddlers and tykes and to mothers and babies together (mom & me).

Mothers become stronger and healthier while providing a playful and bonding atmosphere for the baby.

Senior kids yoga (8-15 yrs):- Wednesday: 4.00 to 5.00 pm

Children in this class learn more flowing yoga sequences such as sun salutation which promotes self-confidence, learning skills, flexibility and strength. This also helps them to master breathing and relaxation techniques and challenging yoga poses. The physical movements introduce kids to yoga's true meaning: union, expression, and honour for oneself and one's part in the delicate web of life. Yoga stories and partner work makes the class live and exiting.
